We've spent this unnecessarily sunny Sunday at one of my favorite places in the city, looking at old things (which is my favorite thing to do). Çengelhan Museum is not a huge one but I love the collection and the place is incredibly beautiful. (It also comes with an excellent brasserie and a rustic cocktail bar, what's not to love?) I never know when to stop when I have a camera in my hand and I frequently end up with more photos than I can share so the eliminating process was a hard one. Enjoy x
This is one of the first flags of Turkish Republic ever made and I found it fascinating because first flags are great.
Atatürk's closet is one of my favorite things ever and I am sad because this country will probably never see a classy, well dressed and elegant ruler as he was.
Miniature toys are wonders to me and I could fill my entire apartment up with tiny chairs, tea sets and sewing machines if I could.
"I swore to lend money and stand surety." I'd like to meet this guy.
This cracked me up; I can't help but come up with silly reasons for this sign, each one dirtier than another. Oops.
I will ignore the fact that today is Monday and I'll get on with my writing. I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year and if you don't know what that is, visit this link and learn about it.
For me it means that I'll be suffering for the rest of the month and hopefully have something worthy of editing by December. The novel is a mess right now, except the very general outline; but I have things in mind and I think I'll end up writing much more than 50,000 words just because. The novel will obviously be in Turkish but I really want to have it in English too and I wonder how many re-writes are waiting for me; I guess I'll have to wait and see.
I hope you never come across with people who keep saying "Remember, remember, the 5th of November." today and have a nice enough week that you won't wish to stab every living thing by this weekend. xx
