Summer Food High

Food lately...

My days haven't been the most exciting ones of this year but I have been on a pretty good roll of quality eating, dare I say. For some incomprehensible reason, my occasional fast food meals started to make me sick to the point of making me bow down to the porcelain god (I am being delicate here), so I stopped eating junk food all together. Can't say I miss it.

I usually have a pretty reasonable approach towards eating and food in general -except my 'once' weakness for McDonald's- and Rachel Phipps' post on how she manages not to be a size of a house after all the glorious dining she performs on a daily basis has become a favourite of mine. I do love her blog and she is a doll, so check it out if you want a really good explanation of what is simply common sense.

Long story short, I have embraced clean and humane eating instead of pigging out. It is doing me good. Emotional eating is becoming a thing of past, slowly but surely. (Boredom is a dangerous fellow.) I am still capable of eating my weight in goat cheese and peaches but at least good french fries are not a necessity but an occasional treat. (Although I still shouldn't be trusted around Sea Salt & Vinegar Kettle Chips.) And homemade bread is delicious.

Garden Greens

It has been raining for the past few days and it is so nice to see the gray skies and feel the breeze instead of melting under that hot ball while frying my face. The garden seems okay with the weather as well. Not sure about the cat.

Weekend

Weekend

It was a pretty slow weekend with emroidery practicing, documentary watching and book shopping followed by a simple gathering of friends. I did some shopping for the apartment and bought a nice candle holder (I have yet to find my ultimate candle, every smell gives me a headache), cushions for my balcony, new napkins and a few vases. Afternoon tea was delicious (too bad we couldn't fit all the food on my tiny table) and as our Sunday afternoon turned into a quiet and cool summer evening, we all enjoyed the breeze along with the sounds of crickets with subtle candle lights.

Images of Quiet - The Old Mosque

Edirne

This place is overwhelmingly gorgeous. It is smaller than Selimiye Mosque but somehow it felt grander, and more spiritual. It must be the massive Arabic writings on the walls. Dating back to 15th century, I would say it is one of the most charming religious spots I have seen. The artwork on the ceiling was exquisite.

Edirne

Many snapshots of Selimiye Mosque in Edirne. If it weren't swarming with tourists, I think it would even be more peaceful.

River Times

Meric River was pretty magical, especially under the full moon.
