A few days in Istanbul

A couple weeks ago, I was in Istanbul for a few days. Boy, I love this city. In my humble opinion, and despite my neverending love for London, Istanbul is something of her own; a brilliant and unique city in many ways. We went to the Princes Islands by ferry on the first day and enjoyed the historical houses, quiet streets, old and huge trees, having no cars around, the iodine smelling breeze and the stunning sunset and the seagulss taking an evening walk on the streets.

It's so nice to have a such a calm corner just half an hour away from one of the loudest cities on earth. Plus, the calamari and shrimps in butter were simply delicious.

... a.k.a the tapestry purse I found at By Retro when I was in Istanbul. I'm gonna go wild and say it's maybe 1940s but I am not sure, and the lady there didn't know either. It's condition is so amazing, it makes me want to hug the purse. The floral rose pattern is beautiful and I loved the peach lining. What's not to love if you get the matching coin purse and the hand mirror with the same fabric? Absolutely nothing at all. I am torn between hiding it under my pillow to keep it away from the wild world out there and using it every day so I can make myself proud. This is my new favourite bag and I may just start to dress up every day so I can have an excuse to use this lady. I don't know who you are, Talette Margarete Rostock but your purse is in good hands, I shall love it and keep it.

We are at an end of a week long holiday here and I would be lying if I said I was excited to go back to work on Monday. Maybe I can hide under my bed with my new purse and books until the next holiday arrives. Poke me when it's time to do nothing at all again.
